For this week’s Athlete Spotlight, we talked with Jennifer Eisen. Jennifer joined JR CrossFit in May of 2018, and is a 6 day per-week regular alongside her fiancé Juan. In our interview, Jennifer talks about why JR CrossFit feels like home, her favorite types of workouts, and how she’s using CrossFit to get “wedding ready.”
Tell us about yourself: How old are you?
When did you join JR CrossFit?
I joined May 2018 – 1 month after moving to Waco!
How often do you make it to the box?
You can usually find Juan and I there M-F at the 5:30 class. Also barbell on Saturday! We rest on Sundays. If we don’t make it, then we are usually out of town! We are pretty faithful to the box!
What are some of your other hobbies?
I like to read, paint, being adventurous, playing games, craft and travel!
What was your workout routine like before joining JR CrossFit?
I actually was doing CrossFit before I moved to Waco! I’m addicted and cannot find any other workouts that I love doing more! I’m addicted! 😬😬
What kind of progress (physical, mental, etc) have you seen since you started at JR CrossFit?
I can always tell when I’m getting stronger! I love that! Sometimes working out with certain people push me to go harder or longer! I’m thankful that I usually don’t have to stop after 5 reps like when I first started!
How do you stay motivated?
I hate the sluggish feeling. I love the after workout feeling (that workout death feeling) That keeps me coming back and motivated to keep doing what I love doing!
Why did you pick JR CrossFit?
So, actually Juan and I tried CrossFit Waco first. NO ONE talked to us. It was so awkward. Back home I loved my home gym, and that did not feel like home. Then we showed up at JR and Kacie greeted us, and has always made us feel so welcomed! She made it home for us! She still does it everyday! Also, the first workout we workout to was bomb!!!! Juan and I loved it and have been coming back since (besides our travels and heart issues lol!)
What’s your favorite thing about it?
I love to lift!!! I love when the workouts kick my butt!!! That my fave!! I hate all run wods, but I’ll run and lift! 👏🏻👏🏻
Andddd making new friends have been really sweet too! Lol
What are some of your CrossFit and fitness goals going forward?
Well, currently I am trying to get wedding ready! So my goals are to keep trimming down those inches, lose a couple lbs, and get my booty bigger! 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ 💁🏻♀️💁🏻♀️💁🏻♀️ Also I’d love some new PRs.
What advice would you give to someone considering joining JR CrossFit?
Just do it! You will love it and you can go at our own pace! Worth every cent!
