For this week’s Athlete Spotlight, I got to talk to JR CrossFit member Kaelyn Cowan. Kaelyn joined JR CrossFit in August after she was struggling to stay consistent with her workout routine. Since joining, Kaelyn has not only improved her consistency, but has seen amazing results thanks to her dedication and the help of JR CrossFit coaching. Here’s what Kaelyn had to say:
Tell us about yourself: How old are you? Where do you work? When did you join JR CrossFit?
I am 24 years old. I work at Baylor University and I joint JR CrossFit at the end of August 2019.
What was your workout routine before joining JR CrossFit? Are you still doing that in addition to CrossFit?
I was a college athlete until May 2017. After that, I never really had a workout routine. I was looking for something that would make my workout routine more consistent.
What was the hardest part of starting CrossFit and staying motivated?
I haven’t hit a point where I’ve struggled with motivation to go to the box at this point because I really do enjoy working out and the community that comes along with CrossFit!
What kind of progress have you seen compared to when you started?
When I joined CrossFit I needed something to hold me accountable. JR has done exactly that for me. I have changed my eating habits and have incorporated CrossFit into my weekly routine. With these life changes I have lost 22 pounds in the last few months.
Why did you pick JR CrossFit? What’s your favorite thing about it?
A few of my friends went to JR and really loved it. I love the community and the mindset of working towards your own specific goals. The coaches really help individualize each workout to make sure each athlete is getting the most for their specific goals.
What are some of your CrossFit and fitness goals going forward?
My goal is to just to be better than I was the day before each time I walk through the doors. I think JR allows me to do just that with the continuous encouragement!
