1) How long have you done CrossFit and Why?
I have been an active member of the CrossFit community for about 4.5 years now. I’ve always been involved in fitness in one aspect or another. One day I walked into a CrossFit gym back in Louisiana (CF Get it Done, Whoop Whoop) and I’ve never looked back.
2) What is your favorite thing about coaching?
My favorite thing about coaching is not only helping athletes become stronger, faster, better; but to also make them more knowledgeable. I want them to master their movements. I want them to understand proper form, technique and body control. I want them to be able to acknowledge right from wrong. Check your ego at the door; I’m here to keep you safe. That 400lb back squat doesn’t mean anything if your form is poo. If I can provide detailed answers to my athletes “why’s” and “how’s,” then I feel accomplished at the end of the day. Education is fundamental. Knowledge is power.
3) Tell us about what you are pursuing in college, what you have obtained, and how this helps our community.
I have a bachelor’s degree in health and human performance. I am graduating with my master’s degree in exercise physiology next month, and I will begin my journey for my Ph.D. in physical therapy this fall. Like I stated before, knowledge is power. My entire life has been dedicated to education and being able to incorporate the things I’ve learned into our box makes all these years of education worth it.
4) Tell us something about you that people don’t know.
I AM SUCH AN INTROVERT! I am completely fine hanging out at my house alone. I do not require social interaction…like at all. However, when It is time to lead a class, I can flip a switch and be in my element. I LOVE teaching.
