One thing that sets JR CrossFit apart from other gyms is the fact that we’re much more than a gym. In our latest video, Coach Jai talks more about the JR CrossFit the statement that defines JR CrossFit as a community and as a business: People First, Fitness Follows. What this means is that fitness comes second to the people-focused approach we take to our business.
When you come to JR CrossFit, you’re buying into much more than just fitness. As Coach Jai explains, we focus on changing your habits from a wholistic view, merging fitness, nutrition, and your overall mindset:
“When you’re buying into JR CrossFit as a member, we want you to understand that you’re not necessarily buying into the fitness part of it first. You’re buying into the mindset change. We’re changing your mindset from a wholistic perspective. We want you to think about fitness and the aspects of nutrition, fitness, and the mindset. Those three things have to go hand in hand in order for you to be successful in your journey with fitness.”
The key to our “People First, Fitness Follows” approach is that those three things have to go hand-in-hand to achieve your fitness goals. “You have to change the way you think, because it’s those habits that got you into where you’re at in the first place,” Coach Jai says.
But as we’ve emphasized on the blog before, JR CrossFit has the fitness aspect of things covered too. All of our programming is done in-house, which means it’s within our community and within our community’s fitness level. It’s not about the fittest of the fit or getting everyone ready for the CrossFit Games; it’s about creating a community where everyone sees improvements from a wholistic perspective.
“We want you to feel like you are something. You’re not just another number, you’re not just a notch on our belt to say ‘Oh, we have 300 members.’ That’s not what we’re about here at JR CrossFit. We want to be able to know you, we want to be able to know your kids’ names, we want to be able to call you at the beginning of the week. Because that’s what “people first” is to us.”
The hardest part is getting through the doors, and Coach Jai has a proposal for you: get to the box three times per week, and let the JR CrossFit coaches take it from there. “There’s not a price on transformation,” Coach Jai says. “Get through the doors, and we’ll make it happen.
Need some help being consistent and holding yourself accountable? Be sure to read our blog post with tips on consistency and how to hit that three times per-week goal.
And we can’t forget our mantra, either: “I am, because we are.” This is the epitome of the JR CrossFit philosophy, and it emphasizes the community and culture within our box. Combine that “People First, Fitness Follows,” and you have the full scope of our mission, values and promises to you as a JR CrossFit athlete.
