If you’re looking to take your lifting skills to the next level, JR CrossFit has two classes every week made just for you! Every Thursday, there’s Weightlifting at 6:30PM and every Saturday is Barbell at 9AM. Here’s what you need to know.
One of the newest classes we offer at JR CrossFit is the weekly weightlifting class with Coach Haylie.
The goal of the JR Weightlifting class is to help you be more confident in olympic and power lifts, with a focus on the finer details of each lift. Weightlifting complements the normal JR CrossFit programming and lifts, and here are a few benefits according to Coach Haylie:
- Hitting correctly
- Understanding what YOU need to do to be more successful at each lift
- Develop those smaller muscle groups that you don’t use in CrossFit
The JR Weightlifting class combines the movements you already know, slows them down, and perfects them. This should give you more confidence, higher 1-rep maxes, and more awareness of your skills. What all of this means is the form and technique you learn in the JR Weightlifting class with Coach Haylie will be tremendously helpful for the lifting you might do in a normal CrossFit WOD. It’s the perfect opportunity to take your lifting technique to the next level.
The JR CrossFit Weightlifting class is held every Thursday evening at 6:30PM.
Meanwhile, if you’re looking to kick the weekend off with even more lifting work, every Saturday at 9AM, we spend an hour focusing on barbell technique, knowledge, and more.
JR Barbell Club is the perfect opportunity to improve your lifting performance, further perfect your form, and try lifts that you might not get to try during the week. The purpose of Barbell Club is continued improvements and progressions, with a focus on targeting specific muscle groups and building strength.
Essentially, Barbell will help educate you on how to safely complete different movements and lifts. This might be similar to the lifting we do throughout week in normal WODs, but sometimes it’ll focus accessory work and lifts we don’t get to do as regularly.
The JR CrossFit Barbell class takes place every Saturday at 9AM.

And finally, don’t forget about our two other weekend classes! At 10AM every Saturday, we encourage you to bring a friend to the box for our completely free Community WOD. The fun continues every Sunday at 1:30PM with JR Endurance Club, where we do a slightly longer workout to take our endurance to the next level.
