If you’re thinking about starting CrossFit, you might be wondering what exactly makes it so different from than forms of exercise. You also might want to know what sets JR CrossFit apart from other gyms. At JR CrossFit, our goal is to create an environment where you can see consistent improvement in your CrossFit performance, with a special focus on community and pride.
All of JR CrossFit’s classes are programmed in-house, specifically for our members. Our coaches create a detailed plan that ensures you see progress when you consistently come to our classes. What this also means is that you know you’re getting a full body workout every week, and that you won’t overwork one muscle and underwork another. Our coaches know what you did at the gym the day before, and they know how to account for that in mobility, warmups, and workouts.
Having programming designed for you also makes it harder to to sandbag a workout. Be honest, how many times have you gone to a big, chain gym with one workout in mind, only to take the easy way out and leave after 10 minutes? I know I have. When a workout is programmed for you at JR CrossFit, it’s a lot harder to take the easy way out.
Next up, because all of our workouts are programmed in-house, we can easily scale and modify them based on your fitness level and injuries. Have a nagging shoulder pain? Struggle with jump ropes? We can scale and modify any workout to meet you at your fitness level, while also making sure that you still see performance improvement.
What I’m trying to say is, there’s something special about having a workout specifically programmed for you everyday. You don’t have to actually think about what you’re going to work on that day. Instead, you show up and your hour-long class is already programmed, and you can focus on your performance during the workout.
In addition to our in-house programming, we also do one hero workout and one girl workout every month. These are benchmark workouts, done by CrossFit gyms everywhere. We also retest these workouts after six months, making it incredibly easy for you to track your improvements.
For example, we just retested the “Annie” girl WOD last week. Nearly everyone who completed it saw significant improvements in time compared to when we last did it in May. This is the type of progress our in-house programming is designed to create.
We also use Wodify to make it easy for you to track your performance after each workout. I know that one of the most motivating things for me is opening Wodify and tracking my progress on weightlifting, endurance, and so much more. Who doesn’t love seeing that star by your name in Wodify after a hard workout?
